The suede panel on top of foot provides extra grip for any static moves where the lower leg is wrapped around a rope or hoop, in toe hang, climbing a rope or silks etc.
The boots lace up at the back and the back tongue is un-attached on one side, which gives room for adjusting and re-tightening as the leather softens.
